2009 SUMMER PROGRAM - JULY 2 to AUGUST 6
Form and Color, From Nature to Architecture
The 2009 session of the Fontainebleau Architecture Program will explore the relationship between form, color, nature and architecture through a series of workshops, lectures, visits and hands-on projects and performances in collaboration with the musicians.
The program offers a different approach to studying: harmonization with French design-culture, scholars and practitioners; harmonization with French music theory and performance.
In Fontainebleau, workshops, lectures, visits and studios will be organized. Formal art disciplines such as drawing, watercolor graphic design and theatre design will be practiced during the session.
The program is divided into 4 one-week workshops. Each is directed by a group of professors to develop a specific project exploring the general theme. The week begins with an introduction of the faculty and the program. Students work either individually or in groups. During the week, there are often excursions and talks given in conjunction with the project. A Saturday morning jury is held at the end of each workshop.
At the end of the 4-week workshop sessions a trip to the Marseille region is planned.
